(09/01/2011).-El qatarí Nasser Al-Attiyah (Volkswagen) ganó el domingo la séptima etapa del Rally Dakar-2011, entre las poblaciones chilenas de Arica y Antofagasta (norte de Chile), delante de su compañero de equipo y defensor del título, el español Carlos Sainz.
Al-Attiyah fue el más rápido al cubrir la especial reducida de 273 km -sobre un total de 763 km- en 2h40:57, seguido de cerca por su archirrival Sainz a escasos 1:20, y por el sudafricano Giniel De Villiers, también de Volkswagen, a 2:56.
El madrileño, bicampeón mundial de rally (WRC) en 1990 y 1992, se mantiene en la cabeza de la clasificación general con un tiempo total de 23h21:58, escoltado por Al-Attiyah a 1:22 y por el múltiple campeón de la prueba -6 en motos y 3 en autos-, el francés Stephane Peterhansel (BMW), a 21:11.
La octava etapa en autos se disputará el lunes entre Antofagasta y Copiapó (776 km, 508 de especial).
